No One is Clean in This Deal

Let us be clear and direct about the inflation problems that are currently roiling the U.S. economy:  BOTH Republicans and Democrats created this problem; both presidents Trump and Biden presided over its genesis.  But the larger issue is this: Once the fire was started, Joe Biden took the easy and irresponsible way out.  Instead of taking difficult, thoughtful, sensible approaches to the glut of bipartisan federal spending that created (and sustains) this problem, he instead started giving away the store in a cheap plea for votes and a transparent catering to the progressive elements of his party.  He has literally poured kerosene on the inflation inferno that is now raging.  And, sad to say, there is absolutely no indication that he intends to change this approach.

Neither national party nor the men they have put in the White House have shown any inclination towards seriously addressing our nation’s ongoing and worsening debt problem.  The plain and simple fact is that since the time of the Bill Clinton Administration and a Republican Congress in the mid-90s, no elected official in our government has had both the courage to openly challenge the irresponsible federal spending that is running out of control and the power/influence to initiate real and effective administrative action to mitigate this problem.  Our government has essentially run up the white flag in the challenge of federal spending restraint and has lost all concern about the number of zeros added to right side of spending appropriation figures.  The only real difference between Republicans and Democrats is the areas where they choose to overspend.

An honest discussion of inflation demands that blame be assessed to both parties when we consider the cause of inflation…i.e. profligate federal spending.  It is inherently a Congressional problem more than an Executive problem.  But when we move the discussion to the management of inflation and its consequences, there is little doubt that the empirical evidence available tells us that the Republican Party and Donald Trump have done a far better job keeping inflation at tolerable levels than have the Democrat Party and Joe Biden.  If we broaden out that discussion to general domestic economic policy, Trump’s record of performance is far preferable to that of Biden.  You do not have to think about this or check the history records; simply reflect on your economic health during Donald Trump’s recent presidential term and compare that to your economic health today under President Biden.

Once again I make the point: The issue is not how much tax revenue the federal government is receiving; tax revenues are at historical highs. The problem is how much money the federal government is spending.

Unfortunately, gross mismanagement is a disease and not a symptom of the Biden Administration.  The damage associated with this performance in the domestic area of policy is terribly consequential: it directly affects a citizen’s quality of life.  However, when this inherent mismanagement extends itself into the area of foreign policy, it threatens the citizens’ very lives themselves.

Governmental mismanagement has been and continues to be the hallmark of the Biden Administration.  I view the Biden Administration as quite simply the third Obama Administration...with one very important difference.  Obama filled his two administrations with bad policy-makers; but they were intelligent (in the main).  Biden's people are not just promoting bad policies; they are also idiots.  Obama's group pushed the envelope to new limits, but there was always a red line of reason that kept them from going over the cliff.  There is no such restraint...no red line...for the Biden group.

Biden is clearly incapable and incompetent to serve as president and the lackeys who are actually running our government are naïve, egotistical fools who are emboldened by the fact that they are truly unaccountable for their actions.  Their actions hide behind the skirts of President Biden and they escape attention through cover conferred upon them by the mainstream media.

Say what will you will about the obvious flaws of Donald Trump; the simple fact is that unlike his opponent Joe Biden, he does possess the physical and mental competence to serve as Commander in Chief.  Joe Biden does not.  Watching the Biden Administration, and their partners in the progressive mainstream media, attempt to hide Biden’s pathetic incompetence is both a sad and comical affair.

There can be no doubt that given a choice between Joe Biden and Donald Trump as our next president, the clear and better choice is Donald Trump.

If anyone doubts the fact that the Biden Administration has corrupted our government, they need look no further than what has occurred in the Department of Justice.  Take note that the Department of Justice is NOT an independent federal department.  It exists under the purview of the Executive Branch.  Its head, the Attorney General, is a patronage appointment of the president.  True oversight of the Executive Branch lies with the Legislative Branch in the political sense and the Supreme Court of the United States in the legal sense.

To clarify this corruption and the dual justice system it is administering, simply compare how it has handled the lawfare strategy against Donald Trump with the way it has handled the legal issues surrounding Biden’s son, Hunter.  It goes without saying that the biased and partisan coverage of these issues by the mainstream media has significantly deepened their damaging effects on our government’s chief law enforcement entity, and the entire government by extension.

Consider the handling and coverage of Trump’s legal problems…

The 20 Percent Solution

Over the last several years, I have written thousands of words criticizing Joe Biden, his Democrat Party, and the cabal of liberal/progressive elements that support their agenda.  My words are a matter of record and I stand by them; there’s no need to repeat them at this time.

For this piece, I will focus on what I believe to be the two most damaging aspects (out of “oh so many”…) of this Biden Administration fiasco.  Between this pair of issues, the broad range of foreign policy is addressed through the microcosm of the Middle East; specifically the Israeli v. Hamas war.  The other of the pair will focus on the outcome of Donald Trump’s New York trial that ended this week in his conviction.  This lawfare episode is also a microcosmic view of the cancerous corruption that has been sown throughout our government by the current Administration; specifically in the area of politically weaponizing the Department of Justice.

When considering these two issues, we get a very true sense of how President Joe Biden, his Administration, his Party, and his block of supporters have, through their domestic and foreign policy agendas, wrought catastrophic harm on our nation.  These two events help to bring into a focus a true definition of precisely what Joe Biden and his group stand for, what motivates them, how they choose to operate, and how they view the future of our country.  It is perhaps auspicious that these happenings are set before us today, a mere five months before national elections are conducted to determine the future path of our government and, by definition, our nation.

I truly believe that while the predicting of that election’s outcome is a fool’s errand (that we will all likely embark upon at some point), what will ultimately determine that choice is no mystery at all.  I call it the “20 percent solution”.  Our citizenry is a wondrous blend of ethnicity, opinions, ideals, beliefs, principles, and political bent.  Even the two main political parties that represent our government are not nearly as homogenous as they once were.  Within each party, there is spectrum that ranges from the radical element to the moderate element to the lukewarm element; i.e. the True Believers, the Ones Who Choose the Most Comfortable Group, and the Ones Who Flipped a Coin.  For the sake of this argument, I am going to dissolve the Independent voters into the two primary parties and place them in the coin flipping category.

The two events that I opened with and will address later in this blog will go a long way towards deciding who prevails in this year’s presidential election.  How will they play out and what will be their effects?  Does Trump’s conviction end up being a net liability or does it end up being a net asset?  Will people view Trump’s conviction as justice delivered or the corrupt machinations of a banana republic?  Does the ineptitude of Biden’s foreign policy follies lead us into a cauldron of global conflict ending in actual warfare…or…does it simply continue his Administration’s policy of acting as a spectator on the world stage as the planet’s conflict temperature continues to rise?

Returning to the three categories of party members, I submit that the True Believers and Comfortable groups comprise approximately 80 percent of the total electorate.  These people know today how they will be voting come November and nothing short of Armageddon is going to change their minds.  I would guess that the 80 percent is split about 40/40 between parties.  It is that third group in each party…the Coin Flippers…who will decide the future.  They comprise approximately 20 percent of the final vote and it is this 20 percent that will tip the scales either to a return of what we had under the term of President Donald Trump or a continuation of what we are experiencing under President Joe Biden.

How will they decide who to vote for?  Will they be influenced by the mainstream media and the partisan water-carrying they practice for the Democrat Party?  Will they simply listen to their friends, neighbors, and coworkers and go with the prevailing thought in that sphere?  How many of them will actually consider the hard facts and evidence that tells the real story of the Trump Administration vs. the Biden Administration?  How many of them will be significantly influenced by Trump’s conviction in a kangaroo court on bogus charges?  Are there a significant number of these voters who even care about foreign policy and how it might impact their lives here in America?  How many of this group will actually be sufficiently motivated to get out and vote?

To make these questions even more byzantine, the majority of this 20 percent (or at least the portion that will have the most impact) can be found in a half dozen or fewer states…whose election verdict will likely decide the presidential victor.  The stakes for our families and our country could not be higher.  To a very large extent, the cause of freedom and liberty across the world sits in the balance of this choice.  And as we approach this monumental day of decision, the entire question boils down to the group that I have chosen to label…Coin Flippers.  Dwell on that for a moment.  We will get the government we deserve.

When Joe Biden entered into the White House as President, he inherited a situation in the Middle East that was stable, predominantly peaceful, and pregnant with promise towards a lasting co-existence between the Arab and Israeli communities.  The Abraham Accords had demonstrated that these disparate peoples could, in fact, live side by side in relative harmony.  Israel and most of its neighboring Arab nations had joined in the recognition of Iran as a terrorist threat to them all.  Through the exercise of ignorance, pure spite, and blatant incompetence, the Biden Administration has turned this stability into pure and threatening chaos.  Of all the aspects involved in the ongoing Israeli v. Hamas war that have been bungled by Biden’s foreign policy clowns, nothing is more representative of their stupidity than the bizarre project known as the Gaza Pier.  You cannot make this stuff up; you must read it to believe it.

Many people, I among them, have said over the last few decades that the United States of America cannot be the world’s policeman.  But conceding our clear inability to play that omnipotent role in world affairs does not mean that we should lie down and do nothing.  The Biden Administration seems to have put a new spin on this old notion.   They seem to believe that while we should never strive to be the world’s policeman, we can damn sure be the world’s NANNY.

The Critical Importance of Balance

Balance is a term that holds many and varied applications in our lives.  I suppose the first relevance of the term for most of us would the physical aspect of balance.  Premier athletes are blessed with extraordinary balance that is both natural and earned.  Some animals, such as cats, have an innate physical balance ability that oftentimes defies reason.  It is also painfully true that as the human creature ages, its sense of balance is eroded and as we ease into the latter stages of our lives, that lack of balance can become a serious concern.  After playing some basketball this afternoon with my 13-year old grandson, I can attest to that fact.  But if we allow ourselves to expand beyond the physical connotation of balance; we can readily recognize that balance is a vital ingredient in a successful life or enterprise that has broad applications to many aspects.

In our world, there exists a balance between eternal conflicts.  There is the age-old struggle of good vs. evil.  There is the cultural and societal challenge of rich vs. poor.  There is the eternal friction between the young vs. the old and the battles of the sexes.  There is the complex question of balancing a career with a family.  At some point, and no matter the spiritual context in which we frame it, we must all deal with the struggle of reconciling God’s will with our own free will.

Life is full of conflicts; they are simply unavoidable.  The secret to dealing practically and effectively with these conflicts is learning to achieve some form of balance between the conflicting forces.  Good Lord…aren’t we all looking for some kind of balance in our life?  When we deal with balance, it is fair to say that one size does not fit all; we must each find the formula for calming our own troubled waters.  Perhaps one of the catalysts for the world’s problems in current times is the fact that many people, several of them people of power and influence, would like to dictate exactly how balance should play out in our lives.

There is no doubt that there are some areas where balance must be prescribed and enforced by a higher authority; because a lack of this application would result in chaos.  The realm of justice, law enforcement, and civil order are some of these.  Each of us cannot reasonably be permitted to behave in tune to our own personal sense of right and wrong.  There are laws that should apply equally to all for the betterment of the whole.  Conversely, there are other areas where there must be room for each of us to find our private level of balance.  Our right of expression and opinion regarding ideals, policies, and agendas fall naturally into this category.  But even here, where individual freedoms must be addressed, there should remain an essential balance between individual rights and the rights of the whole.  We must always preserve the God-given rights recognized in the founding of our great nation; but simultaneously maintain a limit on the extent to which one person’s exercise of their rights might infringe on that same exercise by their neighbors.  Balance…a noble and marvelous goal to pursue; a monumental and frustrating challenge to achieve.

For all the problems that currently exist in our government, I strongly believe that chief among them is the fact that we…collectively as a nation…have lost the constitutional balance that was so wisely prescribed for our three branches of government.  Our Legislative Branch has become lazy, careless, distracted, and essentially dysfunctional; thus allowing their constitutional authorities to erode and migrate over to the other two branches of government.  They had the power; they did not use it; they lost it.  They left a void and it was filled.

Our Executive Branch, fueled by autocratic dreams possessed by monstrous egos and arrogance, has been more than ready to accept these neglected legislative authorities and fill in the void with extra-constitutional executive actions.  Presidents of both parties, and their radical appointees, have taken advantage of the Chevron Phenomenon and made an art form out of distorting legislation or, worse case scenario, ignoring it altogether and creating their own rules.  Under the Biden Administration, this process is best described as “governing on the fly”.  The Legislative Branch, too disparate and divided to effectively counter this usurpation of their power, have become sniveling creatures of whining complaints about someone else doing their job… in a way that they simply do not agree with…because they proved incapable of doing it themselves.  The Legislative Branch of our government has become quite impotent.  Their loss of potency has transferred largely to the Executive Branch.

Our Judicial Branch has lost its integrity and its honor through decades of tolerance for the abuse of power by unscrupulous scoundrels who pose as public servants while pursuing personal, political, and ill-advised ends.  Quite simply, the justice system has been corrupted by the pathetic quality of the individuals who are administering the justice system.  This malaise extends all the way from the local county attorneys in the states where we live and work all the way up to the Attorney General and the Supreme Court of the United States.  Rogue prosecutors and judges at every rung of the ladder traveling upward have been emboldened by their increasing abilities to get away with blatant abuse of power and their pursuit of personal agendas.  These arrogant wannabe dictators are appointed for life and rule from the bench with little or no regard to precedent, existing law, or common sense.  The absurd practices of unequal justice, judge shopping, and legal mission creep has put our current justice system in a land of chaos, disorder, and dystopian existence.

What is to be done?  To regain the constitutional balance in our government, our elected and appointed officials must rediscover two essential principles: Order and Competence.  We must return to the order set forth in our Constitution which defines how our government is constructed, who is responsible for what, and how we can deal with the necessary changes as our nation ages.  Each Branch of our government needs to step up and embrace their constitutionally-assigned duties and responsibilities with professionalism, vigor, enthusiasm, transparency, humility, pride, and character.  They must also learn to respect the existing limits of authority and realize where their mission ends and someone else’s begins.

Equally important, we must select the best among us to execute the duties of our government.  They must be selected NOT because of their politics, their ethnicity, their religion, their wealth, or their influence.  They must be selected based on their competence; their proven and measureable abilities to do the job for which they are selected.  That selection should be based on skills, abilities, integrity, judgment, and commitment.  They must be people who are motivated by an ethic of public service and have a firm grasp on their own limitations and imperfections.

Now…let us address some of those imbalances that were mentioned earlier….

Given the current landscape of the approaching presidential election, I will venture the premise that Joe Biden is incapable of winning this election.  However, Donald Trump is certainly capable of losing this election.  Does Trump possess the discipline and intelligence to take full advantage of the opportunity set before him by the paucity of his opposition?  Make no mistake about it…Joe Biden and the liberal/progressive block of our nation that supports him hold the potential to draw to an inside straight and beat Trump in this November’s political poker match.  They are wealthy, influential, desperate, guileful, and…perhaps most important of all…they are the incumbents in the White House and the Senate.  Can an election be bought or wrangled?  I don’t know….Can it?

Aside from using your tax dollars to gain votes, Biden continues to spew venom and hatred that further divides our nation along hysterical lines of race, status, and income.  He consistently plays fast and loose with the truth and has no reluctance to telling outright lies.  He has no concern for healing our differences and solving our problems; his only concern is remaining in office.

The Biden Administration’s political weaponization of the Department of Justice is a tragic and abysmal indictment of its corruption and lust for power and control.  While favored individuals skate through the legal system with no fear of repercussion for their misdeeds, disfavored individuals are victimized by the legal system in vicious and extra-legal fashion.

And while Joe Biden and his entourage focus exclusively on how they might retain control of our government…their true duties and responsibilities are ignored and the functioning of our government and our institutions are going to hell in a hand basket, both domestically and globally.

There are some indications that people in general are beginning to come to terms with the idiocy of woke, progressive ideology and are starting to push back against its lunacy.

But many of the forces driving the progressive/liberal madness that is infecting our nation are simply clueless as to their own stupidity.  They exist in idealistic bubbles where they eat, sleep, work, live, and recreate only with those folks who agree with them and their fairy tale ideals.  Instead of coming face to face with the fallacy of their agenda, they focus instead on the process…not the substance…of their aims.  They remain in a comfortable, blissful state of eternal denial.  They are so rigid in their certitude that, in their minds, the only reasons you do not agree with them is either you are too dumb to understand them…or they are simply doing an inadequate job of explaining their positions.

If America is going to return to the ideals that fostered its founding, we must remove the Democrat Party from control of our nation’s Executive Branch of government.  It is not essential, but it would be extremely beneficial, if we also returned our Legislative Branch to Republican control.  Not because they are righteous and ingenious…they are not; but simply because their brand of dysfunction is far preferable to that of the Democrats.  The Republicans can rival the Democrats any day of the week on the nonsense scale…but at least the Republicans still retain a rudimentary allegiance to the Constitution that birthed this nation.  The Democrats have generally disavowed that document.  The opportunity to implement this remedy is rapidly approaching.
