The Fine Art of Woken Liberal/Progressive Distortions

One man’s obvious is another man’s mystery.  But sometimes…stupid is just stupid.  The mantra of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) has taken three ideas which, considered separately, hold some semblance of common sense.  However, when they are all blended into a naïve principle for life where the ends justify the means, they are simply…stupid.  The current drama unfolding in the WNBA is a good example of the wages that DEI might offer.

Professional basketball player Sophie Cunningham has taken considerable heat for advocating that biological males should not be competing in the W (Women’s) NBA.  Elementary, intramural, summer youth leagues and other non-professional organizations may occasionally feature co-ed participation in some fashion.  But invariably, the blending of the sexes on the field of play does not extend to the mingling of sexes inside the locker rooms. And…these are leagues that are specifically designed to feature multi-sex participation.

Cunningham did not say anything harsh or hateful about people who choose to classify as a sex other than what their biology reveals.  She was simply attempting to emphasize two obvious points.  First, biological males are typically physically superior to biological females.  This constitutes a clear and unfair advantage for males in basketball.  Secondly, females who compete in amateur or professional sports should not be forced to share locker rooms with biological males.  This is a plain and obvious invasion of privacy, lack of respect, and further opens the door to individuals who might choose to use the leniency as an invitation to sexual mischief.

After the initial rush of many sports organizations to openly welcome the inclusion of trans-biological males into female sports, it seems that common sense is coming to the fore and people are recognizing the nonsensical nature of that position.  The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has determined that, beginning in 2028, biological males may not compete against biological females.  The IOC has never been hesitant to wave the progressive-thinking freak flag; but even the IOC has come to terms with science.  The Women’s National Basketball Association is clearly behind the curve on this evolution.

The WNBA has two very serious issues they need to deal with right now.  The first of those issues is the undercurrent of racism that is present in the locker rooms and on the court.  The WNBA can best deal with this issue by treating all players, coaches, staff, and organization officials in a colorblind fashion; that would be equally.  Full Stop!  The second issue is the obvious incompetence of the WNBA officials.  For heaven’s sake, why can’t this organization find people to call their games that understand the rules, can recognize violations of those rules in real time, and conduct themselves in a professional manner during games?  Train them up; pay them more; hold them accountable for their performance; JUST DO SOMETHING about it.  Quit blathering about foolish social experiments and practice some serious management.  The players, the fans, the organization, and aspiring young female athletes deserve better.

Like so many things that DEI has hatched, this WNBA effort at posturing, progressive activism, and socio-political commentary is tired and boring.  It is thin gruel.  The WNBA reeks of DEI.  It should focus on the game.  It should highlight the tremendous talents of its players.  It should hire officials who can call games competently and consistently. It has a great product and tremendous potential; but it is allowing it all to slip away under the guise of virtue signaling gone amok.  Instead of trying to fulfill the roles of Universal Karens and defending every perceived slight towards every possible profile, they should focus on running their business enterprise.  Leave the area of personal morals and ethics to the people themselves.  The only balls that should be bouncing on the WNBA courts are the ones going through the nets.

DEI does NOT generate diversity and inclusion because it practices discrimination in an effort to exclude discrimination.  It does NOT achieve equity because its sense of fairness is based wholly on an erroneous premise.  It is a premise that breeds envy, resentment, and contempt because it fosters unearned privilege.   Over time, these are the types of feelings that can lead to pure hatred.  This is what happens when status is given and not earned.  DEI substitutes empty platitudes for hard truths.  It substitutes self-righteous trappings for critical thinking. It is the road of lesser resistance.  This type of life philosophy where one person’s personal quest, no matter how bizarre or abnormal, is given priority over established and sensible norms is, to put it mildly…moronic.  The world must change in order for their own…selfish…ambitions to be satisfied?  What manner of diversity, equity, and inclusion rewards the individual at the expense of the many?  It is a fantasy land of unicorns and rainbows that is detached from reality.

Meritocracy trumps DEI every…single…time.  Dumbing down required skills and abilities for professional standards is doing no one a favor; especially those who are put in positions where they are in way over their heads.  The plain and simple fact is that not only do they suffer from an inability to perform their assigned duties, their peers and those they ultimately serve are condemned to suffer the collateral effects of their incompetence also.  Equal education and equal opportunity for all is the solution to the DEI treasure hunt.  That is where the energy, enthusiasm, and activism should be taking place.  We should ALL hope that our children, and our children’s children, will be better than we are.  We want them to dream and reach for the stars.  Those dreams should be fulfilled due to hard work, sacrifice, and effort; not the distorted pipe dreams from a select number of wannabe Napoleons.

Consider some of the areas in our society, culture, and government where DEI and Woke progressive thinking have wrought their corruptive effects.

Many of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) positions that are roiling the Democrat Party were first introduced by President Barack Hussein Obama and his Administrations.  Like many of the cowardly Democrats who are truly liberal/progressives but try to pawn themselves off as moderates, Obama was the master of disguise when trying to play both sides of the game.  He did not, and does not, like this country and its Constitution.  He never said that openly…but his actions spoke loudly.

He never had the courage and he possessed insufficient character to say what he truly believed and then act upon it.  Rather, he took a Machiavellian approach that featured chameleonesque posturing to push policies in his preferred direction without being at the front of the line.  He was quite nimble when utilizing the “straw man” principle.   He set race relations back decades in our nation.  He was pathetic in form and practice and relied almost exclusively on shallow and transparent hypocrisy.  He literally dripped of arrogance and conceit.  Instead of seizing the opportunity presented to him as the first black President and building on the goodwill and hopes of the citizenry, he tried to reinvent this nation in his perverted image.  Failing at that early in his first term, he simply spent his last six years in office serving “himself”.

The vile combination of wokeism and DSA liberal progressivism is a cancerous brew that will hollow out any organization…or government…that lends itself to their purposes.  This is the dilemma that the Democrat Party is now facing.  It holds a “fatal attraction” for the vitality and enthusiasm of the progressives who offer up socialism; but it knows in its heart that it is a lie and will not be supported by a majority of its members.  Its thirst for power and control is leading it down a perilous path.

Three quick hits on various and important topics…

Kudos to the Trump Administration!  Continue to cut the size and scope of the government!

Before we increase spending for federal programs, we should do all we can to maximize their efficiency and effectiveness.  Before creating new federal programs, we should first determine whether or not existing programs can be reformed in a way to better address the targeted needs.  Throwing more and more government money at our problems and reinventing the wheel every little whipstitch has not…and will not…be an effective way to improve our government’s function.  Results matter.  Find what works and support it.  Find what fails and cancel it.

I suppose hope springs eternal, but it would seem that President Trump is doing the right and honorable thing in placing his concerns about the practical and long-term strategy of the Iran conflict over that of the approaching mid-term elections.  I fear this may end up being a historically positive achievement for our country, but a terrible opportunity lost for our government and the directions it takes.
