There was a time…not too long ago…when America was respected around the world and was the acknowledged leader of the world’s community for freedom, liberty, and compassion. It is true that many nations viewed America as an opponent, perhaps even an enemy. But in this case, even in their hostile view of us as an adversary, they nonetheless respected our strength, our resolve, and our position at the head of the global table. Our allies might on occasion resent us or criticize us for our perceived (sometimes earned) arrogance and conceit. They occasionally would refer to us as the “Ugly Americans” or something akin to it. But at the end of the day, when things become serious and consequential, there was no doubt who anchored the ship. It was America. Obama was worshiped; Trump was despised. But both were ultimately respected because they were the Chief Executives of the most powerful and influential nation on this planet. The blood of America’s most precious resource has soaked the soil of nations all around this world…and nothing was asked for in return.
Joe Biden has put that
status in jeopardy. Our enemies now view
us as a paper tiger and openly mock us. Our
deterrent value is marginalized to the point where we are no longer respected
or feared, we are simply a “part of the calculation”. Unfortunately, we are not always a major
part. Our allies no longer look to
America to be the leader. In their eyes,
we have become corrupt, flaccid, and bereft of principle. They now look first to each other and each of
them variously strives to fill the vacuum left by our feckless leaders. This is not a failure of our people. This is a failure of our leaders. So many young lives wasted for what were
considered noble causes. Were they? Or were they simply ambitious schemes
conceived by men who deemed themselves shepherds of the future? One thing is for certain…the lives were
given with true honor. The
tragedies of war are deep and the costs are heavy.
When my children were
growing up, they participated in summer league athletics. I coached many of their teams. I was in the dugout and I was on the
field. I interacted with the umpires and
the referees in a meaningful (although not always successful and productive)
fashion. I impacted the outcome of the
game; I was in the game. As my
children matured and left home, I continued on as one of the game officials;
but soon realized that it was time for me to move on and leave the space I
occupied to someone more involved.
I moved to the bleachers. I now
sit and watch my grandchildren compete out on the fields and the courts. I yell encouragement to the players. I shout out complaints to the officials. I cheer, I boo, I gripe; I am embarrassingly
a sunshine fan and too easily overlook the difficult mission of both
those who coach and who officiate these events.
Given my past experience, I should know better. Ultimately …I no longer impact the game. I am a spectator. I am no longer in the
game.
This is what Joe Biden
has done to our nation. We have become
spectators on the world stage. No one is
really interested in what we think. They
are only interested in what we do if it directly impacts them or their
interests. They are convinced that they
are smarter than we are (they might be) and are exploring their options
in replacing our brute military and diplomatic strength with various shared and
coordinated efforts that do not always include America; at least not in the
planning and formative stages. In the
middle east, OPEC watches our appeasing attitude towards Iran and writes us off
as naïve fools. China and North Korea simply
wait patiently for an opening to take advantage of what they perceive to be an
“all hat and no cowboy” Biden foreign policy. China and Russia openly deride our country as
they conspire to foist their ideology on their neighbors. Putin apparently sees Biden for the empty
suit that he is and is attempting to seize this moment to realize his dreams of
a restored USSR. Fledgling democracies
around the world no longer look to America for support and encouragement. Rebels seeking to overthrow the yoke of
tyranny no longer have faith that America will see the battle through to the
end and be there for them when the fight is over. They realize that the risk might not be worth the
potential reward. Our own neighbors,
Canada and Mexico, see us as useful idiots for use in the projection of their
own agendas and ambitions. America is no
longer in the game.
The Russian invasion of
Ukraine has exposed the inadequacy of the Biden Administration in full and
agonizing detail. It’s failure to
anticipate the conflict; it’s failure to mobilize a coherent and effective NATO
reaction, both preemptive and reactive; it’s substitute of bluster for
principled action…all of these things have exposed our nation’s leadership
as the weak actor it has become. As
the global environment descends into the early stages of chaos, the need for
America’s presence as a force for freedom and justice has never been more
urgent. Instead, the world has come to
recognize that the weakness and unwise leadership of the United States is
simply not ready for prime time.
But prime time does not operate on anyone’s schedule but its own
and…it has arrived. That empty
chair at the end of the world community table is begging for a presence. There are over two years left in Joe Biden’s
administration. It is fairly clear that
chair will go begging over that time period.
Who…or what…will fill that space?
What will be the consequences of that absence?
The Economy. A cold, hard, and cruel
winter awaits many. The harsh realities
and consequences of actions both taken and not taken will become real in a
harsh fashion. The vital ingredient in
our success as a nation has been equal opportunity, accountability, upward
mobility, and the individual freedom to both fail and succeed. If moderate success is guaranteed to all, then what is
the value of ambition? Where will we
find the source of pride?

Immigration Reform. This is one of the many ticking
time bombs lying out there that is not only being ignored…it is being
exacerbated.
“Green” Madness
Continues. With
no thought given to the future consequences of today’s actions, our leaders are
setting us up for a catastrophic future relating to energy needs. This type of decision making is childish and
irresponsible beyond description.

Crime, Justice, and Those
Who Deal in It. Liberal
Democrats in all states and at all levels of government have been pursuing a
laissez faire approach to crime for some time now. Under their puppet President Joe Biden, they
have seized the opportunity to implement their irresponsible ideals into the
core of our nation’s culture and society.
There is a place for compassion and common sense in our justice system;
but without accountability and punishment, there is no effective deterrent to
lawlessness.

when considering the application of “equal justice for all”?

How Do the Liberal
Democrats Actually Govern and Want to Govern?
Look at the cities and states run by Democrats. Look at the legislation that has been passed
on a partisan basis by the Democrats.
Listen to their positions on social, fiscal, and moral issues that swirl
about us these days. Is this an
America we can be proud of and want to hand over to our successors? The liberal Democrat view is that bigger
government is better government. It is
that government knows better what is good for you than you know for
yourself. It is that government can
spend your money wiser than you can. To
sum it up: Tax and Spend…take from some and give to others. With the possible exception of corrupt
charitable organizations, no one can waste money more quickly or more
effectively than government. We must
stop feeding the beast. A nanny-state is the road to ruin.

Can We Discuss Abortion
in Reasonable Terms? In
today’s social and political environment, I do not believe that any subject has
been more polarizing than abortion.
There are true believers on either extreme side of the issue that are
willing to fight to the death for their position; and each group represents a
sizeable portion of the American people.
For this reason, any discussion of how to deal with abortion must begin
with the word “compromise”. I
understand that is difficult when each side considers their position to be
righteous. But at the end of the day,
the ultimate consequence for abortion will be dealt by our Lord and Savior and
none of us hold sufficient wisdom to supplant His judgement. Because of that, we can fight for our chosen
cause but must leave the final verdict to Him.
Each of us will face the consequences of our actions in this life. It was correct for the Supreme Court (SCOTUS)
to find that the right to abortion is not part and parcel of our Constitution; it
is not. It is best that this subject
be dealt with by government that is closest to the people...and that is State
Government. It is best that while each
of us have the right to hold fast to our convictions, we also have the
obligation to respect other people’s convictions. The demagoguery of abortion must cease and
common-sense law like that of the Dobbs v. Jackson WHO case must become the
ruling precedent for this issue.
We Must Preserve SCOTUS
as our Constitutional Firewall. Presidents
come and go. Congress will turn over
from party to party. Culture and society
will evolve and morph. But our
Constitution must endure, it must be honored, and the SCOTUS must be
sufficiently capable of upholding its principles. The wheels of justice turn painfully slow
sometimes; but they do turn. Though the
politics of the Executive Branch and the Legislative Branch lead us
occasionally to corrupt and partisan actions, the true remedy for this
perversion of our government is the Constitution and the institution (SCOTUS)
that is assigned to honor it above all else.
Rational Thought and
Reasoning Must Overrule Racism, Wokeism, Censorship, and Professional
Misinformation. The
scope of personal liberties, individual tolerance, government authorities, and
fundamental rights are well defined within the boundaries of our
Constitution. It further provides for
amending that content within specified means.
Outside of those means, it is an aberration of our country’s very soul
to pervert that document in support of partisan or personal agendas. There is much unbridled lust for power and
authority swirling about us these days and it must be put down. It must be called out for the abuse and foolishness that it obviously is.

ugly sides are becoming exposed in a rather crude and flamboyant fashion.
