As the conflict in Iran continues at its frenetic and destructive pace, there are certain consequential events that are bound to become more settled. A sequence of events has been irrevocably begun and the window of existence for those events is closing. Where the field of play stands at the time of closure will likely determine whether history will record this battle as an American victory or an American defeat.
The
intensive bombing campaign will end in the foreseeable future. At that point, the strategic silence wisely being exercised by Trump’s war
managers will come to an end. The people
of Iran who are actively seeking the overthrow of the current ruling clerics
will then be faced with the daunting task of leaving their homes, entering into
the streets, and putting their lives on the line to seek the freedom and
dignity they yearn for. How will America, Israel, and the free
nations of the world support them?
Will there be a surreptitious supply line established to arm these
freedom fighters? Will the media of
America and the world objectively cover their quest for a free nation and
responsible government? These are open
questions…but they will soon be answered.
The
mainstream media must come to terms with how they will report the coming
developments in this armed struggle.
Will they continue to approach every…single…event with a beginning
attitude largely dictated by their Trump Derangement Syndrome? Will their professional vacuity continue to overshadow
their journalistic integrity? Will Iran
suddenly become available to on-the-ground correspondents, thus permitting the
media to actually cover conflict events in real time and with factually-based
accuracy? Will those folks putting their
lives on the line to gain a free and prosperous future for themselves and their
children get the supportive coverage and respect they deserve? Is
there a sufficient amount of self-respect and dignity remaining in the media to
face this historical challenge and somehow rise to the moment? Time will tell.
Once
the planes are warehoused and the bombings cease, the moments of quiet on the
battlefield will yield to the blaring and obvious question: What
now, America? Will the remnants of the IRGC be adequate to
continue their brutal control of the Iranian population? Will the US inject Special Forces into the
theatre to help guide the
resistance? Will President Trump be true
to his aversion of forever wars and
resist the temptation to put American boots on the ground in an effort to close
the deal? How will Israel and the European
Nations support the Iranian people? THIS is perhaps the largest question of all.
When
this quintessential moment arrives, what will Iran’s neighboring Gulf States
do? Will
they band together and assume responsibility for ridding their part of the
world of the Iranian clerical pestilence?
Will they enter into a new and promising era with expanded Abraham
Accords that could very well lead to Middle Eastern peace and advancement? Are they up to the task of actually taking a chance in their
support of the freedom-seeking Iranians who will risk their lives for the
freedom they so greatly desire? This is
the moment of truth for the Middle
East and the future will be largely determined by how the other Middle Eastern nations behave at this time.
Is
it possible for America to disengage itself sufficiently to effectively turn
Iran’s future over to the Iranian people and their supporters? Are President Trump and our government
willing to grant the Iranian people the liberty of self-determination that has
been broadly heralded as one of this conflict’s primary goals? Will the Trump Doctrine of peace through strength and the surgical,
non-quagmire applications of that strength be proven as a practical and
reasonable American foreign policy approach for the future? We can only hope and pray this is the case.
How
will America…our people, our government,
our allies, and our enemies…react to a post-Iranian conflict period? Will a conclusion deemed successful translate
into newfound political co-operation between the Republicans and
Democrats? Will a reinvigorated feeling
of peace through strength embolden and enhance our global alliances with NATO
and other supportive nations? Will our
enemy-axis of China, North Korea, and Russia be marginalized by
American/Israeli combat success and enter into a less combative posture? Will they be sufficiently intimidated by the
awesome, destructive, and technically-advanced military prowess graphically demonstrated
by the USA and Israel? Or…will events
tilt off the rails, spiral out of control, and lead us into a new and unsettled
period of Middle Eastern and global conflict where the balance of power between
good and evil in this world is truly up for grabs? This is where the true commitment of our
nation, its people, and its allies will be sorely tested.
And
finally, how will the imminent conclusion of this conflict impact the upcoming
mid-term elections. As critically and
historically important this event might be in the realm of global foreign
policy, it is equally impactful on the everyday lives of the American people
and how they will be governed over the next few years. Will Trump and the Republicans be rewarded
for having the courage to face down an imminent national threat…or…will they be
saddled with the blame for an ill-advised projection of American military might
and influence? The outcome’s impact on the Middle East…and by extension the global
community…is certainly of import; but it could be said the practical impact on
the political fallout within our own democracy will have a greater influence on
the American people. That window is rapidly
closing.
The
current military and geo-political tension of this ongoing conflict is not
sustainable; something has to give and it will
give sooner rather than later. May God
be with us as we approach that moment.

The
Democrat/Liberal/Progressive rot in our society and culture is stubbornly
continuing and is taking refuge in strategically-developed pockets of power and
influence within our population. Like a
debilitating addiction, this is a condition that will require constant attention,
unrelenting resistance, and clarity of reason.

Perhaps the most incredibly stupid,
irresponsible, and dangerous political development to date is the Democrat
opposition to DHS funding when not only are we engaged in the middle eastern
military conflict…but simultaneously facing evermore-frequent terror-related
attacks here within our own borders.
What are these idiots thinking?

On
the subject of college athletics…like many, I mourn the passing of the
student/athlete in our collegiate environment and detest the fact that college
sports have largely become nothing more than farm clubs and development
appendages for the professional teams and associations. If you don’t think that college sports is out
of control, just take a closer look at my state’s flagship university and how
it is handling college sports. Do they
remain institutions of higher learning?
Not so much.

A
few quick hits in closing…
Trump has an admirable record of
selecting competent and talented people for his Administration; he also made
some poor choices. One of those poor
choices is now history. I hope that a
few others follow shortly.

There has been a welcome and
renewed effort by our government to aggressively address the illegal drug
epidemic in our nation. That needs to
continue with increased vigor. So many
lives have been damaged.

Our federal fiscal crisis is not a
question of adequate funding; it is a matter of profligate spending…by BOTH
NATIONAL PARTIES.

There are many problems associated
with American society and culture that can be immensely improved with better

Speaking of Congress…I wrote in my
March 5 piece about the need for some moderate Democrats to assert themselves
in today’s political dynamic. While I
will continue to call for other Democrats to join with Fetterman, Shapiro, and
Whitmer…I also urge some moderate, but principled, Republicans to openly join
with them to form a new voice of reason in an American Congress that has lost
its way.
Finally…I recently did a piece on
the generations of America https://centerlineright.blogspot.com/2026/02/save-us-from-this-damnable-virtue.html. Here is
an interesting follow-up article for that piece.
