There are two new terms making the rounds these days that describe certain aspects of the labor market. “Quiet Quitting” and “Boreout” are two particular manners of employee behavior that are really not new at all; they have simply been rebranded in an effort to make them more appealable for news consumption and perhaps more acceptable through a woke approach.
When
logic and reality speak plainly about the facts and folks are not comfortable
with t hose facts, they will oftentimes fall back, rename them, and try once
again to promote them to the public. Obviously,
the hope is that somewhere lost in translation will be the inconvenient plain
and simple truths that make the subject seem either foolish or unacceptable to
many people. Unfortunately, this scheme is
quite successful on occasion; same circus,
different tent.
After
decades of predicting the end of the world and seeing those dates with disaster
come and go with no ill effects, the global
warming contingent among us changed their term du jour to climate change. By nestling their disproven theories amongst
certain facts that are undeniable (after
all, the climate IS changing; but how much of it is man-made and how much of it
is natural evolution?), it is their hope that their small piece of
nonsensical illogic will be effectively hidden within the broader accepted
topic and somehow sneak through our bullshit radar. Unfortunately, this too has proven rather
successful.
Another
example of this dog and pony trickery is the attempted rebranding of our
nation’s liberal political philosophy
to the new term progressives. I mean…who can argue with being progressive? It just sounds
better, doesn’t it? However, when you remove
the labels and the wrapping paper, progressivism
is still the same, thin gruel that we have known for ages as liberalism. The jury is still out on how successful
this rebranding effort will be. Never
underestimate the voting public to swallow the political bait…hook, line, and
sinker.
Circling
back to the original subject, quiet quitting and boreout are the new terms
being used to describe the situation where an employee is disillusioned by
their current job, not motivated to perform their assigned responsibilities,
and yet refuses to accept the fact that if you don’t do your job, you should
not get a paycheck. They somehow believe
that they can show up late, leave early, oftentimes take days off for no
particular reason, take looooonnnng lunch breaks, turn out half-ass work
products, and still be perfectly deserving of keeping their jobs, maintaining
their position in their employer’s entity, and perhaps even receive a promotion
for their exceptional insight. These are
the people that my generation called deadheads and loafers; folks who coasted
along on the coattails of others who pulled their loads for them. These people are not assets; they are
liabilities. I have to
believe that no matter how woke or progressive a company might be, an
employee of this caliber will not be tolerated for very long. But….I have been terribly wrong on similar
topics in recent years and stand ready to be corrected.
I
am of the Boomer Generation and as I have approached my advanced age of 70, I discussed
with my friends and acquaintances the generational differences between us as parents and them as our children. Like
all those who came before me, I must view life through the aspects that have
been part of me; through my own life experience. This naturally causes a certain myopia and
short-sightedness when considering life, its attributes, and what is to be
considered acceptable behavior. The
simplest illustration of this is when an older person expresses wonderment at
the clothes, hairstyles, and music of today’s youth and then gets shocked back
to reality when confronted with old photographs of their own adolescent clothing, hairstyles, and music.
But
some things will not change. Truth
remains truth, honesty is straightforward, evil is everlasting, salvation is a
long and narrow path, and an honest day’s work should precede an honest day’s
pay. Ethics and morals will evolve with
our society and culture, but the true essence of these two standards will
remain pure. Much like that indefinable
thing that is described as…I can’t
explain it, but I know it when I see it…each of us have a pretty good sense
of what good ethics and morals should look like.
Our
young adults today are quick-witted…bright and intelligent in their own right. Most have good hearts and want to see a
better world. They are very creative,
innovative, and learn early in life to be adept at multi-tasking. They are in many ways an extraordinary
generation with unlimited potential. What they are not is tested. Many have been nurtured in privilege and have
no concept of fundamental terms like compound interest, financial equity, workplace ethics, and basic obligations
of principled behavior. In regards to
that last one, please reference the links below dealing with the ongoing
student loans debate.
This
gap in our children’s resumes of
life…the fact that they have never truly been tested…is certainly not their
fault. Like a football team with a
ridiculously easy schedule…you can only play the teams you line up across
from. Now some have been tested; but most have not. They have not seen depressions or world
wars. They have had a buffer of a
generous government nanny and relatively prosperous parentage. But if this rebranding of fundamental and
time-tested human values proves to be successful, then we as a people will have
become disconnected from many of the elements that have made our country
special among nations of the world and has led America to its pre-eminent
position in the international community.
Some
things in life must be lived to be learned.
Perhaps much of what I have discussed thus far falls into that
category. If so, the obligation falls
upon we, the preceding generation, as parents and teachers and employers, to
transfer these concepts to our children.
While it is true that part of the explanation for the absence of these
concepts with many young adults is the lack of a specific experience in their
lives; it is no doubt true that the disintegration of the family unit in our
society has contributed greatly to the erosion of ethics and morals. At the end of the day…who bears the burden of
blame for the consequences of this vacuum?
Is it the kid who was never
taught…or is it the parent who never committed? On to the
news………
Our schools must return to
fundamental and basic education for our children. They must stop being social warriors…subjects
to naïve and foolish leadership that place their own personal agendas above
their concern for the kids. If they
choose to unionize, they must select leaders that will protect their career
welfare and, at the same time, help them to create the best educational system
possible. Their current leadership only
serves the former purpose, while…of course…lining their own pockets with
membership dues. Teachers…wake up!

Rahm Emanuel is an ex-mayor of
Chicago, the current U.S. Ambassador to Japan, and a lifelong National Democrat
Party leader and partisan. He is quoted
as having said, “You never let a serious
crisis go to waste. And what I mean by
that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before”. This Democrat Party philosophy is borne out
in two particular examples. One is the voting
mischief accomplished by national Democrats under the guise of the covid
epidemic during our last presidential election. Unprecedented early balloting, absentee
balloting, ballot harvesting, and other various election abnormalities were
instituted under the guise of a national need when no actual need existed.
That
crisis did not go to waste. In fact, it
contributed to the second example which was the election of Joe Biden to the
presidency in order to accomplish the liberal priorities the Obama
Administrations could not. Biden’s
election is the second crisis not wasted by the Democrats.
Having
found tangible political success with
these recent efforts, the Democrats have continued to create emergencies where
none actually exist; all in an effort to push through their radical agendas in
extraordinary ways. Only two things can
stop this hijacking of law and justice: One would be national elections and two
would be our judicial system. The
judicial system takes far too long to stop this madness before it can wreck
irreparable harm on our country. The
best and most effective solution is to turn the Democrats out of power and
remove their leverage for these extra-constitutional efforts. The liberal quest for autocratic government
and near-total control is relentless.

Part and parcel of the liberal
thirst for ultimate power is the weaponization of government entities for
political purposes. This effort is
running wide open, most notably by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
It is impossible to deny the existence of a dual
justice system that has been foisted upon our nation by the corrupt denizens
populating the DOJ. Pay close attention
to what they do and believe not a word of what they say.

Special Counsel Weiss is Merrick

The international clowning of
America by its President continues its global tour. Unfortunately, there is a very real human
cost to this lack of competent leadership by our Commander in Chief.

The Biden Administration’s open
southern border policy has exposed our country to innumerable risks and costs. In spite of bipartisan calls for immigration
integrity to be restored, Biden continues to encourage the unrestricted flood
of humanity into our southern states.

Intent of shutting down our oil,
gas, and coal energy sector, the Biden Administration continues to promote the
foolish notion of making an overnight conversion to what it calls clean energy. Energy prices are going
through the roof and Biden continues to worsen the shortage of U.S. energy
sources. The liberal goal is obviously
an effort to make fossil fuels so expensive that in comparison, the inflated and
subsidized costs of clean energy will be the more viable choice. They care not about the terrible financial
costs to consumers that such a policy entails nor are they concerned about how such
an approach might jeopardize the very security of our nation.
