Message to Donald Trump and the Republican Party: Select Ron DeSantis to be the Vice-Presidential candidate. Why?
If
DeSantis were now the presumptive presidential nominee, he would likely be 8-10
points ahead of Biden in most polling.
He is an authentic conservative who not only talks the talk, but he walks
the walk. His record as governor in
Florida is beyond compare with any other governor of either party in America
today. I have to chuckle every time a
mainstream media outlet mentions Kentucky Democrat Governor Andy Beshear as a
rising star in the Democrat Party. Andy
Beshear is not fit to carry a brief case for Ron DeSantis.
J.D.
Vance is a sitting U.S. Senator from the recently-reliable Republican state of
Ohio. He is an impressive individual and
would make a fine Vice-President. Regaining
control of the U.S. Senate must be a
priority for the Republican Party.
Should it really risk losing a seat for the sake of a questionable
outcome?
Marco
Rubio is a sitting U.S. Senator from the recently-reliable Republican state of
Florida. His record of service in the
Senate is impressive and he is especially strong in the foreign policy
area. He would be a huge asset as a
running mate for Trump. But should the Republicans
really risk that seat?
Donald
Trump seems to have learned some pragmatic and humble lessons from his last
presidential defeat. Through his
rhetoric, he has conveyed the thought that conservatives must listen to their
heart, but realize that in order to implement real change in government…they must win elections. Given the weakened state of the Biden
campaign, a selection out of left field featuring Ron DeSantis would be a
game-changing…potentially…knockout
blow. It would consolidate the Republican Party like no other selection. If Trump is truly serious about winning…about doing all he can to achieve electoral
victory in November…he would be capable of ignoring his fear of appearing
less by comparison to DeSantis. He
would understand…and embrace…the fact
that a Republican presidential win is
far more important than a Trump presidential win.
Since
his classy withdrawal from the Republican primary, DeSantis quickly endorsed
Trump’s candidacy, supported Trump’s campaign, and went home to Florida to do
his job as governor. He has been a good
Republican soldier and a marvelous conservative governor. It is a given that he has presidential
ambitions; after all, he ran for the Republican nomination. He cannot run again for Florida
governor. What else will he do? Perhaps if Rubio is chosen as the
Vice-Presidential candidate, DeSantis could pursue that vacant Senate
seat…perhaps not. The point is: Should Donald Trump be elected president, no
person in the Republican Party will be better positioned to succeed him in the
White House than his Vice-President.
DeSantis
has to know this and I must believe that much like Trump, he could forget some
recent campaign memories of remarks made in the heat of battle and serve
faithfully and productively in a subordinate role for four years. He could do this knowing that he might
subsequently serve two terms…eight years…as
president. Imagine what the
possibilities are for twelve consecutive
years of conservative Republican leadership in the Executive Branch of our
government? These facts are
certainly not lost on Ron DeSantis.
Politics
are truly strange currents in a large ocean, but can you imagine the media
storm that would be unleashed with Trump selecting DeSantis as his
Vice-President? With Vance and Rubio
holding their seats and a very good chance of regaining control of the Senate,
the foundation would be in place to not only unwind much of the madness strewn
across our government and nation by the Democrats over the last four years; but
to also restore the constitutional vitality of our country in ways that would
reinvigorate our people and restore our international standing in the
world.
This can happen. Two proud men must swallow a good dose of pride. Two men who claim to love this nation and hold concern about the current state of America must put the goal of winning an election ahead of personal ambitions and perceptions. Two men must be willing to recognize the rare opportunity that lies before them at this moment in time and seize that moment.
Donald Trump: Do the smart thing. Do the right thing. Do all that is within your power to win this presidential election and rid this nation of the Biden Administration curse. Shock the world and ask Ron DeSantis to be your Vice-President.
Ron DeSantis: If that call comes…just as you
answered the call for national service in Navy Seal Team One, accept this call
to once again serve your country.
