DO NOT Check Out…..Stay Involved

Inflation, recession, Russia-Ukraine, Uvalde, primaries…. the world is certainly turning at a high velocity.  And as it turns, it appears that the substance of that which constitutes America is increasingly settling into entrenched positions on either extreme side of the political/cultural/societal spectrum.  The dividing gap between the differing segments of our divided nation is yawning.

I fear the reality is that a whole lot of people have simply gotten sick and tired of hearing/reading/seeing radical liberals arguing with radical conservatives.  Rather than be forced into joining up with extreme positions that they are not comfortable with, they have withdrawn, checked out, and focused on those things (albeit, not too many) in their lives that they can control.  Unfortunately, this leaves the entire stage to those who wish to shout over everyone with their shrill voices, eschewing reason and civility, and thus seeking chaos rather than compromise.  This is where we are.  This is where we have been for some time now.  This is where we will likely remain….at least in the near future.

There is a very real question that is begging an answer: Can we ever get back to where we were…where we were before covid?  Two rolling trains in motion are running down parallel tracks and must be stopped in order to unwind what has transpired over the last two and a half years.  One of those trains is the hidden (oftentimes not so hidden) hand of Obama in the Biden Administration.  The Clinton Corps has certainly not been defanged entirely; but it is just as clear that they have lost the power struggle to possess the puppet strings on the Biden marionette when he first entered into the White House.  Obama and his ilk are absolutely seeing the Biden Administration as their third term; a final chance to accomplish all the liberal dreams they held so closely, but dared not pursue during their time in office.  That reluctant restraint, both imagined and real, is relatively non-existent today.

The second train hurtling down the tracks side-by-side with the first is the state of play that exists in post-covid America.  There have always been those in politics and the federal bureaucracy that envisioned our government as a “be all and end all” omnipotent entity that essentially controlled our lives and decided what was right, what was wrong, what was best, and what would happen.  The pandemic served as a Trojan Horse for these folks and they seized the moment to expand governmental control and influence over our culture and our society.  I truly believe that these people were shocked…literally shocked…at the amount of liberty and freedom that our citizenry was willing to cede in the name of “national health”.  Emboldened by what they were able to get by with during the shutdown, they are now refusing to go back into their pre-covid shells and will not be downshifting their liberal agenda pursuits anytime soon.  They are true believers; they have tasted absolute power; and they are hell-bent on setting things right according to their beliefs.

These people control many, if not most, of the power levers in our culture and society.  They will almost certainly retain control of those levers for the next two and a half years.  Is there a sufficient constituency of common sense, pragmatic, independent-thinking Americans left to consolidate and turn back the clock so that our nation can regain the identity and character that made it unique and special amongst all others?  There are so many Americans that have simply given up the fight, accepted the loss of that which made our nation so unique, and are resigned to the Europeanization of these United States.  Can the momentum of those two cavalcading locomotives be effectively mitigated, much less stopped altogether?  The jury is out and we are all awaiting the verdict.

So, until a principled moderate of either political stripe can rise up and seize the moment, we will continue to live our daily lives in terms of survival, struggling to hit rapidly moving targets, dealing with arbitrary and hypocritical leadership in our government, and simply trying to get from one day to the next in our convulsing economy.  The coming significant events of our election process have been commandeered by the senile idiot in the White House and the ranting MAGA man on the campaign trail.  Prepare for a winner-take-all, hand-to-hand political combat over the next two and a half years that will literally suck all of the oxygen out of the room and leave little space for anything but ego, certitude, and holier-than-thou charlatans.

And now, here is a small sampling of the world around us……………

It is my humble opinion that the veering of our government into poisonous partisanship began with the Obama Administrations.  Many of our population were thrilled when Obama became our first black president…and rightfully so.  It was a hugely important and historic moment.  Unfortunately, Obama was not quite up to the task.  He was unprepared for the presidency, untethered in his policy structure, undisciplined in his role as government leader, and far too willing to accept any means to achieve his ideological aims.

It certainly appears that for all intents and purposes, President Biden represents nothing less than a third term for Obama and his contingent.  As mentioned previously in this post, I suspect that the boldness and unabashed ambition exhibited by the Biden Administration in pursuing their liberal agenda represents the Obama Group’s eagerness to accomplish from “behind the scenes” that which they were unable to accomplish “while in office”.  It is increasingly and painfully obvious that Joe Biden is quite simply their useful idiot.

The Trump-Russia hoax was without a doubt the most grievous and corrupt political trick ever pulled in memory.  It was hatched under Obama with either his wink or his nod and is now, after fits and starts, finally beginning to unravel for public consumption in the context of the Durham investigation.  It is a sobering look at how badly corrupted our Department of Justice has truly become.

Any objective observer must acknowledge the obvious difference in the way our mainstream media covers liberal individuals/causes as opposed to conservative individuals/causes.  Every trick in the book is utilized to curry favor or sympathy for the liberal tilt, while those same methods are used to demonize the conservative subjects.

Following up on the previous topic, it is tragic and outrageous that our U.S. Department of Justice has adopted this same approach to the administration of their legal duties in service to the American people.  There is clearly a dual justice system in our country.  One that serves the wealthy and powerful and one that serves the common man.  One serves the liberal agenda; one serves the conservative agenda.  Judge for yourself.

Thoughtful, deliberate, and honest election reform is needed in this country and Georgia has set a good standard for others to follow.  Beware the critics who falsely proclaim “Jim Crow” and “voter suppression”; the overwhelming majority of people WILL SUPPORT sound election reform.  The proof is in the performance.

Another critical area of our culture that needs some serious re-examination is education.  That discussion has begun and shows signs of necessary reform.  Other than family and church, there is no part of our culture that deserves more attention than the education of our children.

As a proud Independent, I have aggressively attacked the Democrat Party and President Biden for “selling their souls” to the radical liberal elements in our political universe.  I honestly try to strike a balance between the right and left, but the left has veered so sharply to the extreme that it has become virtually impossible to take them seriously.  They are far too “unserious” in their hysterical approach to reinventing our nation.

Having said that…it is incumbent upon the Republican Party to demonstrate a sensible and rational alternative to this Democrat madness.  It is not sufficient for Republicans to look good simply in comparison to Democrats.  The Party and its candidates must go beyond the obvious criticism of the Democrat leadership and put forth an agenda that makes common sense to the average person.  Thus far, they have failed to do so and it is increasingly looking like they will be turning to Trump once again.  While this option is no doubt far superior to the status quo, we as a nation MUST demand more from our leaders.

The tragedy in Uvalde has once again stirred up the raw emotions that are part and parcel of the gun control debate.  As is always the case, extreme rhetoric from both sides of the issue is dominating the debate.  BOTH SIDES of the issue have salient, practical points to be made.  There is ample room in the middle for some meaningful compromise and effective action regarding how America handles it personal firearms.

One point that must be made is this: Increased gun laws are not the sole solution to this problem.  The plain and simple fact is that the most gun-regulated areas of our country are the ones experiencing the highest incidence of gun violence.  We must carefully examine how we ENFORCE the gun laws that are currently on the books and we must also RECONSIDER the fact that all citizens may not deserve the constitutional right to bear arms.  The truth is that there are many people in society that should not be in possession of a firearm.  We must somehow rise above the hyperbole and deal with the facts when discussing gun control in America.  Can that happen in today’s supercharged political environment?

And of course, there are those among us that continue to insist that EVERYTHING is about race.

The dynamic between the “green energy sector”, the “fossil fuel sector”, and the “economy in general” is a complex and difficult equation to consider.  The Biden Administration’s effort to transition us overnight to a new era of greenness is naïve beyond reason.  There is surely a place, and a need, for alternative energy sources in our world.  But those places should be carefully considered, thoughtfully researched, and practically implemented.  Alternative energy sources should be forced to EARN their place in our economy; that is how our free-market system works.  That is not what is taking place today.

And heaven forbid that our Government take it upon itself to solve our energy situation through regulation and spending.  After all, they have such an impressive record of success in those areas.  There was lot of “green” sprinkled throughout this particular boondoggle.

As our President continues the disturbing experiment of seeing how far down his throat he can insert his foot, the world is daily becoming more dangerous.  The time has arrived when the free and moral leadership of our planet needs to step forward and unfortunately, our country is chained to an incompetent, unprincipled, and soulless zombie at the zenith of our government.  It is absolutely unsettling to consider the calculations that must be running through the minds of all those adversaries of freedom and democracy throughout the world.

The unholy alliance that has formed between the mainstream media, the Democrat Party, and the liberal presence in our country is an illness that is spreading rapidly.  The damage we are realizing is both immediate and long-term.  The walls of insulation that once existed between the media and political agendas have pretty much crumbled down and the efforts of both our politicians and the media to manipulate the way we think and act is truly a crime in progress.

It is difficult for anyone to push through the hyper-partisan wave of sentiment that is sweeping across our nation today.  But whether you be a Republican, a Democrat, or an Independent…you must surely yearn for some common sense and reason from your Party’s leadership.  Say what you will, I submit to you that it is nothing short of PATHETIC that we are staring down the barrel of a 2024 presidential election that will feature a choice between a 78-year-old egomaniac and an 82-year-old zombie.  America…. WE MUST DO BETTER THAN THIS.

Inflation is raging and showing no sign of abatement.  It is a cancerous stain upon our economy and punishes most those who are least equipped to deal with it; resource-challenged Americans from all walks of life.  There is, at a minimum, one full American generation that has never had to deal with hyper-inflation.  How will they face this crisis?  Once the beast of inflation has been loosed from its cage…as the Biden Administration and Congressional Leadership have done…it is no longer a question of whether or not there will be carnage.  The only question remaining is…how serious will the carnage be?
