This is a lengthy post, but perhaps there is a note or two of value. All caution to the wind and reaching for the stars…here is my wish list for this Christmas….followed by some good news coverage…
“Anyone but Trump” (DeSantis or Haley) wins the Republican
presidential nomination. I have dual fears about
Trump’s seemingly-inevitable nomination.
First, I fear that with all of the forces that will be aligned against
him if he represents the Republican Party,
his “hard core” Republican constituency
of around 35 percent will prove inadequate to defeat the pitiful…but good by comparison…candidacy of Joe
Biden. Secondly, if Trump was to prevail
next November and win the presidency…the chaos that will likely follow will
make the last two years look like dead calm in comparison. Republicans…please
pick either Ron or Nikki and settle this thing early on. Do not snatch defeat from the jaws of
victory.
The Supreme Court of the United
States chooses an
appropriate case to bury the Chevron principle once and for all; thus restoring
legal authority back to Congress where it belongs. The combination of
over-reaching federal agencies, rogue federal judges, and power-hungry
presidents feasting upon Executive Actions has thrown our government’s balance
of power into a whirligig. Congress must
reassert its authority, rein in the raw ambitions of the Chief Executive, and
write legislation that specifically
defines the parameters of government operations. These
“all too common” occurrences of unelected radicals controlling the everyday
lives of Americans must come to an end.
Speaker Mike Johnson remains in
power and is rewarded with an increased (comfortable)
Republican majority in the House. He’s not perfect and he
is not commanding; but he appears to be of good moral character, he represents a
younger generation of Congressional leaders, and he comes across as being a
reasonable negotiator rather than a radical ideologue. Given
the opportunity to actually legislate rather than herd cats, who knows what he
might accomplish?
Complete the Congressional
Republican bookends by retiring McConnell and replacing him with “Majority Leader” Marco Rubio (not a “super” majority…just a “healthy”
majority). McConnell has achieved
great things, has served his Party and his Nation well, and will have more
lasting impact than many presidents. But…the prospect of having youthful
leaders in both houses of Congress to partner with a youthful President
DeSantis (46 years old upon inauguration)
or President Haley (53 years old upon
inauguration) is exciting, refreshing, and will without a doubt lift the
spirits of a weary American citizenry. Why not choose the best from among us to
lead our nation? Let’s put our nation
on a path to democratic reinvigoration.
DEI Dies…Woke goes Broke…Green gets
Lean…and Government regains its focus on exactly what its purpose is. People finally wake up
and realize that the Diversity/Equity/Inclusion
façade is nothing but a subterfuge using discrimination for personal
agendas, replacing meritocracy with selective privilege, and dividing our
citizens with identity labels that have no bearing on character and
integrity.
The notion that it is sufficient to
simply wish for something to be so without any rational foundation for that
thought process is exposed as the faulty foundation of the woke movement. Common sense once again prevails in the
decision process. The market place and
free enterprise are allowed to flourish and thus determine what commerce is needed
and what is not. Our nation’s
institutions return to their primary
functions and apply their formidable resources towards efforts to reestablish their credibility, integrity,
and respect from the people.
Our bloated, clueless, and
autocratic federal government undergoes a new era of introspection and
rediscovers its constitutional purpose and vision; beginning the painful
process of shrinking its size, decreasing its intrusive influence, and
redirecting its efforts towards doing its job as elected officials in an ordered
and limited structure.
Russia settles for a small victory;
Palestinians choose honest and caring leaders rather than barbarians for their
governors; China pulls back its horns and reevaluates the value of Taiwan; and
our American armed forces are rededicated to the defense of liberty, the wisdom
of deterrence, and the focus of purpose required for winning any challenge
presented to them. After losing what are
likely more than 300,000 soldiers in its attack on Ukraine, Putin decides to
declare “victory” and end his war
with his neighbor. Ukraine, having lost close to 200,000 of its own, cedes a few hundred
square miles of eastern Ukraine to Russia as a settlement of this war comes to
pass.
Recognizing
that the “two-state solution” is an
unrealistic goal, Palestinians instead work
with Israelis to fashion a “cooperative governing arrangement” that permits the
Gaza Strip and the West Bank to co-exist in peace with Israel and thus provide
a safe, autonomous, and potentially-prosperous future for the Palestinian
people.
China
faces the reality that communism cannot compete with capitalism, gives up on its
dream of world domination, and turns its
full attention towards saving its struggling economy. Rather than destroy the one economic jewel it
still possesses (Taiwan), it permits
the island community to continue to exist with a reasonable degree of autonomy
and relies upon its continued economic vitality to support the overall Chinese
economy.
Our U.S. military presence purges
itself of the foolish and radical progressive thinkers who have been placed in
positions of power and authority; replacing them with seasoned and experienced
veterans who can effectively blend their hard-earned knowledge with forward-thinking ideas that
will ensure America’s premier global
superiority.
It regains its sense of purpose as the wall of security for the greatest
nation on earth, rather than serving as a Sesame Street training program with
guns.
I
fervently wish that all the communist regimes across our planet, along with the
dictatorial tyrants who abuse their countries and their people, are subject to
a realization that the true value of
existence in this world lies in the worth of the people. May they take this realization and inject it
into their policies so that their nations will become…not micro-Americas or American colonies…but unique forms of
government that respect the value of individuals, strive to improve the lives
of their citizens, and become a true asset to the betterment of humankind
within our world.
Government finds a new appreciation
for responsible and transparent federal spending and takes the first steps in
the direction of reining in the decades-old madness of deficit finance. Our interest rates settle in around 4-5
percent and inflation falls to around 1-2 percent; thus providing a decent
return on savings as well as affordable capital for entrepreneurs. With
the new wave of previously-mentioned government efficiency and fiscal responsibility on display, a
confidence begins to take root in our national economy and people invest in a
long-term future; reflected in undulating, but steadily rising stock market
values. Savings figures begin to rise,
debt is paid off (including student loans),
and mortgage rates moderate to a level of affordability for new
homeowners. A new sense of confidence in
fiscal stability takes hold across our nation.
There are jobs for those seeking employment, promotions available for
those willing to earn them, and wages once again outrun inflation. The traditional American Dream of home
ownership, family, and eventual retirement once again becomes a popular and
attainable goal.
Church attendance begins a
resurgence in America, bringing with it increased emphasis on personal morals,
ethics, dedication to family, and Christian principles that always have been part
and parcel of this country since the moment of its inception. Government policy and
programs, along with our national network of support organizations, rediscover
the intrinsic value of the family unit in our society and fashion their efforts
to support that notion. Fundamental
respect for individuals’ dignity, rights, and freedoms flourishes as the spirit
of Christ moves amongst our people and fosters in a new age of giving as
opposed to taking. We truly become our
brother’s keeper, reaching out to give a hand-up to those among us who are in
need and looking beyond ourselves for the benefit of others.
This is no doubt an ambitious list
of wishes; but one that is within the realm of possibility and certainly worthy of
pursuit. May each of you have a blessed
and meaningful Holiday Season and here’s hoping that your list is not that different than mine. On to the news…
Woke in full bloom; higher
education testimony in the House.
Here is a great 30-minute podcast
that does a tremendous job of summarizing the Harvard/Penn/MIT leadership House
testimony that is the subject of so much discussion:

Wow! This is a lot of zeros:

“Woke” extends way beyond education in our nation. The Biden Administration, the Congressional
Democrat leadership, and the mainstream media adjunct of the Democrat Party use
it to fashion the policies that have significant impact on our daily lives.

“Bidenomics” is a shell game designed to implement a green/woke
agenda and serve the patrons of the Democrat Party. It is
based on wishes and hopes, and it is destroying the very fabric of our national
economy.

Perhaps we should be paying more
attention to leadership that actually does something about economic
problems…rather than just “talking them to death”:

Beyond the incompetence and policy
foolishness of the Biden Administration, the corruption level that it daily
demonstrates is reaching levels not seen in decades. Where
does this degree of malfeasance ultimately lead?
It starts at the top:

And this bunch of crooks is
determined to game the upcoming elections…do not doubt that for one moment…

It cannot be repeated too often… “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts
absolutely”. FISA in its current
form should NOT be continued. Government
has clearly demonstrated that it cannot
be trusted with this degree of power and authority. Will we simply hand over our liberties as
individuals in the name of some “greater
good” that is eternally promised but never delivered?

The Biden Administration has taken
a peaceful world and helped to usher it into turmoil…just as it has taken a
stable southern border and created chaos along its full length. The sheer incompetence of these people is
breathtaking.

Three quick closing links worthy of
note…
A pox on both the national parties
for mortgaging the future of our children through irresponsible federal
spending: https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/washington-still-asleep-at-the-budget-wheel/
I continually say that our government and its sources cannot be trusted and that they are oftentimes incompetent. This story shouts that fact from the rooftop. I live in Kentucky…have all my life. This miss is not even close: https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/the-gayest-state-is-not-kentucky/
And finally… when the Democrats and
the Progressives have lost Bill Maher, they have truly gone off the
